Remote IT support

Remote IT support services that keep your office secure — and the keys in your hands.

We look after your office computers, network, file server and cameras remotely: every PC reachable through a private encrypted network with nothing opened to the internet, staff working on standard accounts, and every admin password owned by you, not us. It is the same setup we run for our own office of about 30 PCs and Macs.
What we look after
  • PCs & MacsManaged remotely, securely
  • SecurityMalware, updates, licences
  • NetworkRouter, Wi-Fi, internet lines
  • Files & camerasNAS, backups, CCTV
The short answer

What is remote IT support?

Remote IT support is an outsourced IT team that looks after your computers and office systems over a secure connection instead of visiting your desk. New software, a slow PC, a starter or a leaver, a virus warning, a printer that disappeared — most office problems are fixed remotely in minutes, often before anyone notices.

What separates safe remote support from risky remote support is how the access is built and who controls it. We reviewed the top-ranking IT support pages in October 2026: none of the eight explained how their remote access is secured, who holds the admin passwords, or what happens when you leave. Those are the three things we explain first.

Security

How is remote access to our PCs secured?

Many support companies install a remote-desktop app on every PC and log in with a shared password. That is convenient — and it is also how many office break-ins start. We do it differently: every managed computer joins a private, encrypted network (built on WireGuard, through Tailscale) that only your IT team can use. Logins use security keys, not passwords, and each PC’s own firewall accepts IT connections only from that network. Nothing is forwarded on your office router, so there is nothing on the internet to find or guess.
  • No open ports on your router — nothing to scan or attack from outside
  • Key-only logins: no support password exists to be phished or leaked
  • Each PC’s firewall only accepts IT connections from the private network
  • Works at the office, at home or on the road — staff need no VPN
  • Every connection and change is logged and reported to you
Locked down by design
  • Private networkEncrypted, invite-only
  • Key loginsNo passwords to leak
  • Firewalled PCsOnly IT can connect
  • LoggedEvery change recorded
Who holds the keys

Who owns the admin passwords — and what happens if we leave?

You do. Every PC gets a named IT administrator account, and its password is stored in your password manager, not ours. Your router, file server, camera recorder and Microsoft or Google accounts keep you as the owner. We work through access you grant, which you can remove in one step.
  • Admin passwords kept in your password manager, under your control
  • You stay the owner of router, NAS, CCTV and cloud accounts
  • A written register of every PC, account and setting, kept up to date
  • If you leave: we hand over the register and notes, then remove our keys and access the same day
Yours, always

Accounts

Why do staff work on standard accounts, not admin?

In many small offices everyone is an administrator on their own PC. It feels easier — until a fake invoice or a USB stick installs something nobody can see. None of the top-ranking IT support pages we read mention this, yet it is one of the cheapest protections there is.
Everyone is an administrator
  • Any download can install itself, including malware
  • Staff can switch off antivirus and updates
  • Every PC slowly becomes different and harder to support
  • One infected PC can spread to the rest
Staff on standard accounts
  • Software is installed by IT, remotely, on request
  • Antivirus and updates stay on
  • Every PC follows the same standard build
  • Problems stay contained to one machine

Our own office first

What does an office IT check usually turn up?

Before offering this service, we ran it on our own office of about 30 PCs and Macs. These are the issues it surfaced — typical of offices that grew without a dedicated IT person. We share them as an example of what we look for, not as a client case study.
AreaWhat we foundWhat we did
PCsA USB worm spreading between several PCs and a shared stickCleaned every PC and the stick, blocked USB autorun, full scans
LicencesSome Windows and Office copies not genuine or not activatedA clear buy list, then genuine keys installed without reinstalling
AccountsStaff using administrator accounts day to dayA named IT admin account on every PC; staff moved to standard users
RouterAdmin pages reachable more widely than neededAdmin access limited to named addresses; remote admin only through the private network
File serverFormer staff still able to reach shared foldersAccess reviewed and closed; hourly snapshots plus two off-site backups
CamerasRecorder passwords and firmware never reviewedPasswords changed, firmware checked, remote access restricted
Staff devices

Can IT see what staff are doing — and will staff know?

Only openly, and only under your written IT policy. We can send an on-screen message to a PC (“please see IT”), take a screenshot when you ask for one to diagnose a problem or check a policy concern, and lock or close accounts. None of the tools are hidden — hidden tools look exactly like spyware to antivirus, and staff deserve to know how company computers are managed.
  • Staff are told company PCs are managed and may be checked for security and support
  • We give you a one-line addition for your IT policy before we start
  • Screenshots only on your request, for a stated reason
  • Staff never share their passwords with anyone — including IT

Remote by design

Does remote-only IT support work for a small office?

For most day-to-day IT, yes — and it is usually faster, because nobody has to travel. We are remote-only on purpose. Where something physical is needed, we say so plainly and guide your own staff or a local technician through it.
Done remotely by us
  • Software, updates, accounts and passwords
  • Malware clean-up and security settings
  • Router, Wi-Fi, file server and camera settings
  • Licences, backups and monthly checks
Needs hands on site
  • Running new cables or fitting hardware
  • Replacing a failed disk, screen or keyboard
  • Moving or unboxing equipment
  • We guide your staff or a local technician step by step
Pricing

How is outsourced IT support priced?

Most providers charge in one of three ways. We quote a monthly plan after a short audit, in writing, before you commit — ask for a quote with your number of PCs, Macs and sites.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

What is remote IT support?
An outsourced IT team supporting your computers, network and office systems over a secure connection — installing software, fixing problems, handling starters and leavers, and keeping everything updated and safe, without visiting.
Is remote IT support safe?
It is when it is built properly. We use a private encrypted network with key-only logins and per-PC firewalls, so nothing is exposed on your router and there is no shared support password. Staff work as standard users, which stops most malware installing itself.
Who owns our admin passwords?
You do. They are stored in your password manager, and you stay the owner of every account and device. We work through access you grant and can be removed in one step.
What happens if we stop working with you?
We hand over the register of PCs, accounts and settings with notes, then remove our keys and access the same day. Nothing is locked to us.
Do you come on site?
No — we are remote-only. For physical jobs like cabling or replacing a part, we guide your staff or a local technician through it.
Why can’t staff install their own software?
Because standard accounts stop malware installing itself. Staff ask IT for software, and we install it remotely.
Do you monitor our staff?
Only transparently. Tools are never hidden, staff are told under your IT policy, and screenshots are taken only when you ask for a stated reason.
Can you check whether our licences are genuine?
Yes — see our software licence audit. You get a list of genuine, unactivated and missing licences, and we install the genuine keys without reinstalling PCs.
Do you support Macs and file servers?
Yes. We manage Windows PCs and Macs, Synology file servers, Mac backups and secure remote access to office files.
Are we too small for managed IT support?
Not if you have a handful of PCs and nobody whose job is IT. Small offices often benefit most, because one infected PC or locked-out account stops a bigger share of the team.
How is it priced?
A monthly plan per office or per computer, quoted after a short audit. Ask for a quote and tell us how many PCs, Macs and sites you have.
