Why Shopify

When is Shopify the right choice?

Shopify is the right choice when you want a store that someone else keeps running at the platform level. Shopify hosts the store, keeps the software up to date and runs a checkout that many shoppers already recognize. You focus on products, marketing and orders.

It suits brands that sell physical or digital products to consumers, want to sell across several channels, and would rather pay a predictable monthly plan than manage hosting. It suits less well when you need deep changes to how checkout works on a standard plan, or very unusual pricing and ordering rules — that is where WooCommerce or a headless build can fit better.

We build both, so we are happy to tell you if Shopify is not the best fit. Our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison sets out the trade-offs.

We work on it through Shopify’s collaborator access, which you control and can remove at any time. Paid apps are billed to your account too, so there are no hidden markups and nothing to untangle if you ever change agency.

Already on Shopify? Can you redesign without losing anything?

Yes. Because Shopify keeps your products, customers and orders separately from the theme, a redesign changes how the store looks and works without touching that data. We build the new theme alongside your live one, preview it privately, and publish it when it is ready — so customers keep shopping while we work.

Before we start, we review your current apps. Many stores carry apps they no longer use, and each one can add code that slows pages down. We keep what earns its place and suggest what to remove. If you are moving to Shopify from another platform, see store migration.

Headless commerce

Headless Shopify for brands that have outgrown themes

Headless commerce separates the storefront your customers see from the system that runs products, checkout and stock. With headless Shopify, Shopify keeps doing what it does best behind the scenes — on your own Shopify account and plan — while your storefront is custom-built for speed and design freedom and hosted on servers we manage.

Is headless right for you?

When does headless Shopify make sense — and when doesn’t it?

Stay on a theme if…
  • Your catalog and traffic are modest
  • A standard theme layout works for you
  • You want the lowest running cost
  • Your team edits everything in Shopify
Go headless if…
  • Speed and design are competitive advantages
  • You sell in several markets or languages
  • You need content and commerce tightly mixed
  • You have the budget for a bigger build

How does a headless Shopify store work?

In a normal Shopify store, the theme and the platform are one piece: Shopify renders every page from your theme. In a headless store, the storefront is a separate application. It asks Shopify for products, prices and stock through Shopify’s Storefront API, shows them in a design with no theme limits, and hands shoppers to Shopify’s checkout when they are ready to pay.

Shopify still runs everything that has to be reliable: the product catalog, inventory, orders, customer accounts and the checkout itself. Your team keeps managing products and orders in the Shopify admin exactly as before. What changes is the front end — the pages customers browse — which we build, host on our own servers and keep fast.

Editorial content such as guides, lookbooks or campaign pages can live alongside the products, so stories and shopping sit on the same page instead of in a separate blog.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Who pays for Shopify?
You do, directly to Shopify, on the plan that suits you. The store and account always belong to you; we work on it with collaborator access.
Can you redesign our existing Shopify store?
Yes. We can redesign the theme while keeping your products, customers and order history.
Do you build on Shopify Plus?
Yes, and for larger brands we also build headless Shopify storefronts.
Can Shopify connect to Odoo?
Yes — see Odoo integrations.
Do you use a premium theme or build from scratch?
We design for your brand first, then decide whether to build a custom theme or adapt a solid, well-coded base theme. Either way the design is yours, the code is version-controlled and pages are kept lean.
Why 45 days for Shopify?
A Shopify store has more moving parts than a brochure site: catalog, shipping, taxes, payments, apps and emails all need setting up and testing. 45 days gives that work room, and the date is still guaranteed in writing.
Is headless more expensive?
Yes — it is a bigger build and has hosting for the storefront. It pays off for brands where speed and design drive revenue.
Can we still use Shopify apps?
Many apps work with headless storefronts; some need an alternative. We check your app list before you commit.
Do you need Shopify Plus?
Not always. We advise on the plan during discovery.
Does our team still manage products in Shopify?
Yes. Products, stock, orders and customers are all still managed in the Shopify admin. Only the storefront changes.
