Odoo migration services: move to Odoo or upgrade, without losing a record.

Odoo migration means moving your data — and your way of working — onto Odoo, either from another system or from an older Odoo version. We clean the data first, run a full trial you check against your old system, test every custom module on the new version, and switch over on a planned date with everything reconciled.
We migrate from
  • QuickBooks & XeroCustomers, vendors, items, balances
  • SpreadsheetsProduct lists, stock, price books
  • Other ERPsExports mapped to Odoo
  • Older Odoo versionsUpgrades with module porting
Reconciliation

How do you know nothing was lost?

Because we prove it before cut-over, with checks you can see. After every trial migration we compare the new Odoo database with your old system, and we only switch when the figures match and your team has signed them off.

  • Accounts: the trial balance and the open receivables and payables agree with the old system at the cut-over date.
  • Stock: quantities per product and location match, and stock valuation ties to the balance sheet.
  • Master data: record counts for customers, vendors and products match, with duplicates merged on purpose rather than by accident.
  • Documents: invoices, quotes and delivery notes print with your layouts, numbering and tax details.
  • People: each user can log in and do their daily tasks with the right access rights.
How we migrate

How does an Odoo data migration work?

Tested twice before it counts.
01AuditWe review your data and custom modules.
02Map & cleanFields mapped, duplicates and errors fixed.
03Test migrationA full trial run you check against your old system.
04Cut-overFinal move on an agreed date, balances reconciled.
Sources

What can you migrate to Odoo, and what comes across?

Every source system has its own quirks. These are the ones we plan for.
Moving fromUsually migratedWhat we watch for
QuickBooks or XeroChart of accounts, customers, vendors, items, open invoices and bills, opening balancesTax codes and classes that need mapping to Odoo taxes and analytic accounts
SpreadsheetsProducts, price lists, stock on hand, contactsDuplicates, inconsistent units and product names, missing codes
Another ERPMaster data, open orders, balances and stock, from exports or a direct database readCustom fields and processes with no one-to-one match in Odoo

Odoo upgrades

How does an Odoo version upgrade work?

Each major Odoo version changes the database structure and the code that custom modules depend on, so an upgrade is a small project in its own right. Enterprise databases go through Odoo’s upgrade service; Community databases use the open-source OpenUpgrade scripts maintained by the Odoo Community Association. Either way, custom modules are ported by hand.
Database upgradeYour data converted to the new version’s structure and checked.
Module portingYour custom modules rewritten and tested for the new version.
Test copy firstYou try the upgraded system on a copy before we switch.
Timing

When should you upgrade Odoo?

Ideally before your version drops out of Odoo’s support window. Odoo releases a new major version roughly once a year and supports only recent versions, so a system that skips several releases ends up with a bigger, riskier jump. Small, regular upgrades are cheaper overall than one large move every few years.

Good moments to upgrade are when you need a feature from a newer version, when a custom module needs reworking anyway, or at a quiet point in your trading year. We check the release notes against your setup first, then tell you what will change for your users and how much custom code needs porting.

Odoo migration

QuickBooks to Odoo migration, done for you

Businesses usually leave QuickBooks when accounting is no longer the problem — stock, purchasing, sales and projects are. Moving to Odoo puts all of that in one system. We migrate your QuickBooks data, set up the rest of Odoo around it, and switch over at a month-end, with your opening balances reconciled against QuickBooks before you sign off.

QuickBooks vs Odoo

What changes when you move from QuickBooks to Odoo?

Staying on QuickBooks
  • Accounting is strong; operations live elsewhere
  • Stock and orders in spreadsheets or add-ons
  • Data re-typed between systems
  • Reporting stitched together by hand
Moving to Odoo
  • Accounting, sales, stock and purchasing in one place
  • Stock updates as you sell and receive
  • One record of each customer and product
  • Live reports across the whole business

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How long does a migration take?
A straightforward move from QuickBooks or spreadsheets is usually part of a first implementation phase. Upgrades depend mainly on how much custom code you have; we give you a date after the audit.
Will we lose history?
We agree with you what history to bring: typically open items, balances and a sensible amount of transaction history. Older records can stay archived and searchable.
Can we keep working during the migration?
Yes. You keep using your current system until cut-over, which we plan for a quiet period such as a month-end or weekend.
What should we clean up before migrating?
Duplicate customers and products, unused accounts, old items you no longer sell and anything with missing codes. We give you a list after the audit, and we handle the bulk clean-up ourselves — you only decide the cases that need a human judgment.
Do you upgrade Odoo Community as well as Enterprise?
Yes, both. Enterprise databases go through Odoo’s upgrade service; Community databases are upgraded with open-source migration scripts. In both cases we port and test your custom modules.
Can you move us from Odoo Online to a private server?
Yes. We move the database to your own server, check the edition and modules you need, and switch over on an agreed date. See private Odoo hosting.
What drives the cost of an upgrade?
Mostly custom code: how many modules there are, how far they reach into standard Odoo, and how many versions you are jumping. A system with little custom code is a much smaller job. We give you a fixed quote after the audit.
Do we have to switch at year-end?
No. Any month-end works; year-end is simply the neatest.
Can Odoo do everything QuickBooks does?
For accounting, yes, and much more. We check your specific reports and tax needs in the audit before you commit.
What happens to our QuickBooks history?
We bring open items and balances, plus the history you need. Keep a read-only QuickBooks export for older records.
