30 products in sync within seconds — and 11 wrong stock levels fixed before go-live.

A consumer-electronics accessories retailer sold the same products as its supplier brand: the brand on Shopify, the retailer on its own WooCommerce store. Stock and prices had to match without anyone updating them by hand.

Why it worked

What made this integration safe?

Three decisions did most of the work. The client approved every product match — we never matched products on their behalf. Nothing was written until a read-only dry run had shown every difference, which is how the 11 products wrongly shown as in stock surfaced. And access was kept to the minimum: read-only on Shopify, and a receiving endpoint that accepts only Shopify-signed updates.

The client, stores and products are not named at the client’s request.

At a glance

The project in three lines.

ChallengeThe retailer’s WooCommerce store showed stock and prices copied by hand from the supplier’s Shopify store. They drifted, and sold-out items could still be ordered.
What we didA Shopify → WooCommerce integration: client-approved product matches, a read-only dry run, a staged go-live, instant signed updates with a check every minute, and monitoring.
Result30 products kept in sync automatically, stock and price changes visible within seconds (about 3 seconds in a measured test), and 11 products wrongly shown as in stock corrected before go-live.
How it went

What happened, step by step?

01MatchingThe client’s team mapped 30 products in a shared sheet; we checked it twice over before anything went live.
02Dry runA read-only run found 11 products listed in stock on WooCommerce that were sold out at the source.
03Go-liveOld values backed up, one product updated and checked on the live page, then the remaining 29.
04Instant updatesSigned Shopify webhooks switched on the same day, with a check every minute as a safety net.
05MonitoringFour automatic checks and email alerts added two days later, tested by stopping the sync on purpose.
The rules

Which rules did the sync follow?

RuleHow it works
Sold outStock of zero or below at the source means out of stock
PricesPrices follow the source, with optional per-product adjustments agreed with the client
Sale pricesWhen the source shows a compare-at price higher than the selling price, it becomes the regular price and the selling price becomes the sale price
BundlesA bundle listing uses the sum of three source variants (negative stock counts as zero)
Fresh pagesThe site’s page cache and CDN cache are cleared for each changed product only
FAQ

Questions we get asked

How long did the project take?
The dry run, go-live and instant updates were all done on the same day; monitoring was added two days later.
Can you do the same for our stores?
Yes, for platforms with an API. Shopify to WooCommerce is live today; other combinations start with a feasibility check.
