Odoo.sh vs self-hosted: which should you choose?

There are three ways to run Odoo. Odoo Online is Odoo’s own SaaS: simplest, but no custom modules. Odoo.sh is Odoo’s platform for customized databases, where you or your partner manage the code. Self-hosted means Odoo runs on a server you control — most flexible, as long as someone looks after the server properly.

Questions we get asked

Is self-hosting less secure?

Only if the server is poorly managed. A hardened, monitored server with tested off-site backups is a very secure place for Odoo.

Can we move between options later?

Yes. Databases can be moved between Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and self-hosting, with some preparation.
