No hot water: check these first
- Gas unit: look for the pilot or the error light. Follow the relight steps on the unit's label once. If it won't stay lit or you smell gas, stop.
- Electric or heat pump: check the switchboard. If the hot water circuit has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call us.
- Water pouring from the relief valve or the base of the tank: turn the cold isolating valve off at the unit and switch the power or gas off.
- Note the brand, the size on the label and how old it is. A photo of the label helps us bring the right parts.

- Turn off the main water valve. In most Perth homes it sits beside the water meter near the front boundary. Turn it clockwise.
- If water is near power points, lights or the switchboard, keep clear and switch the power off at the board only if you can reach it safely and dry.
- Switch the hot water unit off (power or gas) so it doesn't heat an empty tank.
- Open a low tap outside to drain the pipes, move valuables, and take photos for your insurer.

If the smell is strong, leave the building now. Phone from outside, well away from the house.
- Don't switch lights or appliances on or off, and don't use flames, lighters or anything that could spark.
- If it's safe and quick, turn the gas off at the meter, and open doors and windows on your way out.
- From outside, call your gas network's 24-hour emergency line (the number is on your gas bill), or 000 if anyone is unwell or there is a fire.
- Once the network has made the area safe, call us to find and fix the leak inside your property.

- Check the overflow relief gully outside (the grated pipe near the house). If it's lifted or overflowing, the blockage is in the main sewer line.
- Skip harsh drain chemicals. They rarely clear roots or wipes and can harm pipes and our plumber.
- Tell us which fixtures are slow. That shows us where the blockage is.

Gas: storage or continuous flow
A storage tank keeps water hot all day. A continuous-flow unit heats water only as you use it, so it doesn't run out.
Good for
Homes already on mains gas. Larger households (continuous flow).
Watch out for
Needs a licensed gas fitter and the right gas supply and flue clearances. Ongoing gas supply charges.

Electric storage
A tank with an element, often heating overnight on an off-peak or timer setting. Simple, and the cheapest to buy.
Good for
Smaller households and units. Homes with no gas connection.
Watch out for
Usually the highest running cost of the four. Can run out if the tank is too small for the household.

Heat pump
Works like a reverse air conditioner: it pulls warmth from the air into the water. It uses much less electricity than a standard electric tank.
Good for
Homes with rooftop solar, run in the middle of the day. Moving off gas.
Watch out for
Makes a low hum, so placement near bedrooms matters. Higher price to buy. Government rebates may help, but they change, so check what's current.

Roof collectors heat the water, and a booster covers cloudy days. Perth's sunshine makes it a strong option for many homes.
Good for
A clear north-facing roof. Long-term households who want low running costs.
Watch out for
Roof work and a bigger install, so it costs more and takes longer. The booster settings matter. A poorly set timer wastes energy.

Are your prices really GST-inclusive?
Yes. Every price on the board includes 10% GST. The toggle shows the ex-GST figure for landlords and businesses who need it. Your invoice shows both.
Why not a $0 call-out?
A "free" call-out is usually paid for somewhere else on the bill. We'd rather show the fee up front, and it covers the trip, the diagnosis and the written quote.
How do I check your licence?
Our plumbing and gas fitting contractor numbers are on every page, quote and invoice. A real site links straight to the state's public licence search so you can check them.
Do you guarantee the work?
Yes, 12 months on our workmanship, in writing. Parts carry the maker's warranty, which we register for you.
