What we do

What a private GP can and can't do.

Private GP care works alongside the NHS, not instead of it. Here's the honest version.

We can

  • See you today or tomorrow, for 15 to 45 minutes, in person or by video.
  • Examine you, give advice and arrange tests such as blood tests and swabs here at the practice.
  • Write a private prescription when the GP decides it's clinically right. You pay the pharmacy for the medicine.
  • Refer you to a private consultant, or write to your NHS GP so they can consider an NHS referral.
  • Send a summary to your NHS GP, with your consent, so your records stay joined up.

We can't

  • Handle emergencies. If someone's life is at risk, call 999 or go to A&E.
  • Replace your NHS GP. Please stay registered with them.
  • Promise a prescription. Whether a medicine is right is always the GP's clinical decision.
  • Prescribe some medicines without access to your full medical records.
  • Move you up an NHS waiting list.
